It's been a while since I've blabbed to you guys but I have an excuse. I just recently got married and for the past few months, my life has revolved around everything wedding. If you guys would like me to make a blog post highlighting my wedding, let me know and I will share :)
Now that the wedding is done and it's kind of calming down...the blog must go on!
This summer has been kind of up and down...weather has been kinda craptastic, but nothing like a bit of colour and a lot glow to put me in the summer mood.
If you guys want to know how to achieve this fun summer look, keep reading!
Summer makeup is all about quick and easy and keeping it light especially if you're a sweat-er. Although I am all for full face makeup, the natural sunlight is not so forgiving and will show every layer of makeup. So it's best to keep it simple and polished like!
Ready..Set..Go!
1. Moisturize your gorgeous skin using a gel or water based moisturizer to keep your skin nice and hydrated. Follow with a sunscreen which has both UVA and UVB protection.
2. Prime your eyelids using your preferred eye shadow primer. I used Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer Potion.
3. Using a fluffy blending brush apply a gold eye shadow all over the lid stopping at the crease. I used MAC All That Glitters. I find that this gold works well on pretty much all skin tones. It's got the perfect balance of warm and cool undertones. I used a fluffy brush because I didn't want to have a concentrated gold colour, but rather just a wash of colour.
4. Using a smaller angled brush, pop a champagne colour in the corner of your eyes to brighten the area and give it some dimension. I used MAC Naked Lunch. While you're at it, use the same brush, and the same colour to highlight under the eyebrows.
5. Using the same fluffy brush as we used previously(Wiping it clean before using of course) and apply a transition colour in the empty space between the crease and the highlight. I used MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Medium Golden. This colour acts as a nice skin-toned blending colour before applying a crease colour.
6. Using the same smaller angled brush take apply a brown-bronze colour on the crease. I mixed Faces 118 and MAC Embark. Blend the colours to crease so that there are no harsh lines or obvious transitions. Remember we want to achieve a soft glowy look.
7. Using an angled eyeliner brush, line your eyelids (as close as you can to your lash line) using a bronze coloured eye shadow. I used Faces 118. Using the same brush an

8. Line your bottom waterline using a teal/turquoise eyeliner. Make sure that this eyeliner is preferably waterproof as it will last longer. I used GOSH Velvet liner in Blue Moon. I always set liners with a shadow to keep it in place longer. In this case I used MAC Aquadisiac with an angled eyeliner brush.
9. Since we are not using eyeliner in this look I think it's very important to line your top waterline with a black liner to define the eyes and give your lashes a fuller look without having to use falsies. I used Lancome LeStylo Waterproof in Noire and set the liner using MAC Carbon.
10. Apply two coats of Mascara with a Primer to complete the eyes. I used Estee Lauder Eyelash Primer and a new mascara (which I'm loving these days) by Dior called IT Lash in ITBlack. (Great brush and gel formulation...ya'll know how much I love my gel mascaras)
11. Apply concealer and foundation of your choice. I used MAC Fluid Foundation in NC45 and MAC Studio Concealer in NC42. Make sure you apply with a light hand. MAC is extremely pigmented (for the most part) so a little goes a long way. Especially since this is a summer day look. I like to apply the foundation with my MAC stippling brush and the concealer with my MAC fluffy brush and blend all together using my BeautyBlender.
12. Apply bronzer using a flat contour brush on the hollows of your cheeks and around the perimeter of your face. This will warm up your complexion and bring more focus to the center of your face making it stand out instantly! I used my favorite Guerlain Bronzer in 05 with a Dior Countor Brush. No need to go all out with contour/highlight.
13. Apply blush on the apples of the cheeks and blend it back towards your ears using a blush brush. I used MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul.
14. With a larger powder brush, apply a gold shimmer blush over the previous blush and bronzer to add an extra yummy glow. I used MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Gold Deposit. This gives the nicest gold highlight and it is my go to product for any tropical getaway! I also applied this to the bridge of the nose and a on top of the cheekbones.
15. Apply your favorite coral lipstick. Coral lips with turquoise/teal eyes are my fave combo! I used Givenchy Blooming Peach. I find that cream finish lipsticks work best with this look. Matte doesn't give the glow the dewy-ness it needs and shimmery will take away from the eyes!
16. Finish off with a finishing spray to add more of a glow and your look is complete! I used MAC FixPlus, but I also love using my fave Body Shop Vitamin E spray.
SIDE NOTE: My model is blessed with perfect eyebrows so I didn't really need to do much other than comb it out and fill it in a little bit, but you can go ahead and fill in brows. I suggest using Anastasia Brow Pomade - I used Ebony. It stays put after it sets so it's sweat-proof.
I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial. I know it seems like a lot of steps, but it's really quick and easy. I just wanted to be thorough with the steps so you guys can follow along or use any of the steps to create your own summer time look.
